Launch of the animation ‘The Smuggler’
January 31st, 2019An evening of stories & music
On the 31st January 2019 we launched the animation of the story of ‘The Smuggler’. This was accompanied by live folk music featuring local folk singers Andrew Craig & Maureen and Jonathan Arden Jones. Mike Payton from Beeston Tales opened the evening with a story and young people from Broxtowe Youth Homelessness were featured on video telling their experience of homelessness and their journey to finding a home. John Brannan provided the comedy spot for the evening. I also told the amusing story of ‘Derek the assistant zoo keeper’.
You can now view ‘The Smuggler’ on Youtube and by playing the video below. The origin of the idea for the animation is from the Nasrreddin stories. Naseeruddin Hoola was a Seljuq satirist, born in what is present day Turkey in the 13th century.
Nearly 50 people packed into the THINK venue, Cobden Chambers, Nottingham. Funds raised on the night will go to Broxtowe Youth Homelessness. Thank-you to everyone who performed and to all those who came out on a very cold night to support this event. Somehow it lifted our spirits and wiped away our ‘January Blues’.
